I totally agree with Mark.
Be careful though some entry level Panasonic's are actually Vestel clones. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vestel
Sony have has had a tie up with Samsung for a while on the panels but they are much better quality than Vestel, some of the earlier Bravia sets were pretty grim.
I use a Sony 32 inch LCD in the shed from 2007, it's a US set made in Mexico and it is far superior to the sets Sony were selling here 10 years ago.
On HD it is stunning plus it has decent speakers and loads of different inputs, allegedly not cheap when bought in the states. I run it on a rewired isolation transformer for 110v.
