I'm afraid I wouldn't give those brands consideration these days. Sony or Panasonic for me. Especially if we're talking CRTs, where only Trinitron makes it past the threshold 
I had another look as the tab was still open, but the only sets I could find that appeared to lack analogue inputs were from Avtex. Not a brand I'd met before, but apparently they are big in the caravan scene. Amusingly, they claimed to support NICAM stereo! Again, not a big sample, and I only spent a minute looking...
So Mike, is there no possibility of Freeview upstairs? I know that it won't get all the channels you get from Virgin, but it's still quite a decent selection. I have a number of TVonics PVRs which offer much of the functionality of the original Tivo boxes - no idea how these compare to the currently products. Obviously if you don't need time-shifting, then any modern telly will just plug straight in. Or, do you have Virgin because terrestrial reception isn't good where you are?
Like Trevor says, if you must get a new flatscreen, get a small one! My biggest set is 28", and from about 8-10 feet away, it's just right. The difference between composite and RGB is striking, even at that distance. Of course, if you watch the HD channels, then a bigger screen will be beneficial, but what happens when you go back to SD channels? It's certainly a problem for us - just about everything we watch is SD.
