Next thing I built was an electronic ignition system that appeared in June 71 PW. I somehow persuaded my dad, aged 15, to let me fit it to his somewhat ancient Austin A40. Worked an absolute treat, and was still working some years later when he sold the car. By that tender age I understood something about the damp environment inside an engine bay, and tropicalised the inside in multiple coats of electrical varnish, and then sealed the lid with a makeshift gasket.
