First thing I built was signal generator that appeared in April 1970 PW. Three germanium transistors. Either fixed frequency AF, CW RF om three ranges, or AM modulated RF.
Great fun aged 14. Built it on a piece of Formica with holes drilled using a darning needle I had snapped the tip off. Hard wired on the back. Most expensive bits were the case, the tuning cap and the coils (anyone remember Henrys Radio?).
