I'm not a purist Sam and your idea makes perfect sense.
I got slated on another forum for substituting a Thorn 950 lopt into a Bush TV22, some seem it's sacrilege..... utter nonsense in my mind.
Ok to fit a Sierra 5 speed box in a Morris 1000, but not the done thing with radios and tellies.
