The valve base is/was* correctly wired, and hadn't been touched since it left the HMV factory the best part of half a century ago, Trevor (*Was, because I changed the pentode's cathode bypass capacitor. and 'that' capacitor, i.e., the one which couples the triode's anode to the pentode's control grid) In the process of replacing those two components, I checked and rechecked all the connections, and the few other components. Hopefully, fitting a new valveholder will get the amp. working again.
