After further thorough checks today, including a check from the sockets in the valvehoder to make sure there were no breaks twixt socket side & soldering side, I definitely know that all connections are present and correct, but, having tried a second, known good, ECL86, borrowed from my Revelation Silvertone Record Player, and still getting no current consumption it looks as if the only way toresolve this is to replace the valveholder with a new one. Never thought a simple two-stage record player amplifier would be such a pig to repair!!
