With the valve in place, I can't see any evidence of the heater being lit, although my DMM records 7vac at pins 4 &5 of the v/holder, and the associated pilot lamp lights up OK, but I did check the heater for continuity with an ohmmeter, and that the heater worked OK with 6.5vDC (I don't jhave a variable AC source!)applied to it, where an indicated corrent of just under 800mA was drawn. With hindsight whether it was a good idea to power the heater, if only for about 30 seconds, with the other electrodes unpowered, or not, I don't know, but as the valve didn't power up before I did that, there was nothing to lose. All I can do, as previously mentioned, is to try the ECL86 in a known good amplifier, and/or a known good ECL86 in the 2022.
