It will be useful to keep a transistor thread going. When possible I can upload a diagram I'm using. However, my radio work at the moment is snatched while walking the dog. By day, I'm plumbing and wiring the boat that very soon I'll be living on. No soldering work yet or any electronic repair. That will come towards Winter.
What you said about emitter being the sum of collector and base current was useful. While sat with the dog in the drizzle I worked through a few sums and all was we'll.
Maybe later I'll share a simple PNP circuit I have where a voltage divider sets the base voltage and imput impedance. It's a late 50's diagram.
Work on boat tomorrow could be in heavy rain.
