Speaking of oscillators... I find a 2N107 transistor was used in the +1 amateur superhets. This was a 100 KC calibration oscillator, powered by an 8 volt drop across a cathode resistor. I was a bit baffled by the whole thing but a crystal is used. The voltage I figured was about 3 odd volts on the emitter, going on the resistor and emitter current (in the tables). I have looked at Hartley, Colpitts and Armstrong designs but thee transistorised oscillators are more unfamiliar. Why use this transistor oscillator and how does it all pan out?
