I have a suitable drop through mains tfmr for 10 beer tokens Rob, if it's any use. It came off a 5-10 I think.

For low power rich tone I'd recommend Class A SE amplifiers like the Fender Champ. Build this one first, you can always build another.

Schematic looks ok apart from the 25u cathode cap on the input. You could try a 47 or 100u for more a bit more bass. Oh, are you using solid state rectification BTW ?
