Just tested a 6BA6 on a schematic. The idea was to see if the resistance matched. I got 0.015 amp screen and anode current combined and a bias of -1 on grid. This from the Valve Museum. The total of 66 cathode resistor is only a fraction away from the 68 in the schematic. Yet why does ARRL give 68# under grid bias? Not sure what that means. Also the 6BA6 is used as an IF amplifier with a crystal grid circuit for the 1700 IF. I find it odd the grid has 2 series resistances to the chassis of 68K and 470 K. I then wondered about how that reflects on the bias as a whole. I guess the grid current just differs from the screen and anode. Sometimes I just like to create questions that force me to think what I'm looking at.
Most of today was spent recreating a known synth oscillation harmonic used by Lyle Mays back in 1980. The sound is close to andean pan flutes and ocarina. It's a very sort of unique harmonic that Lyle Mays created on a Prophet synth. Well, I wrote 2 full tracks and used this sound and I am happy with the track I did today. I have my own bags of tricks with layering sounds. Above all I love to write music tracks but feel these days there is no interest in progressive jazz or non mainstream.
