Peter, it's worth noting that the 6/6 as originally made was Pyrex all through. The pinch was Pyrex too, using what I think was pure tungsten wire which gives a good seal with Pyrex. I don't know how 1950s rebuilds were done. Gun assemblies with Pyrex pinches may stiill have been available back then. When I put a 6/6 through rebuild in 1986/7 only soft glass pinches were available, hence the need for a graded seal to match the tempcos. The later unsuccessful attempts at RACS also used graded seals.
