No, it just seems to happen when you ground the shield of the USB cable from the printer to earth. Either to the PC chassis or anything else which is earthed.
So it seems that the PSU is chucking out noise onto the house earth.
The printer has a separate cable from the noisy switched mode 12v 6A supply
