I use one too and had no problems. I have a spare one but I recall it needed a new diaphragm. I also have a Rule bilge pump someone gave away as faulty.
I have the box with my Jabsco pieces in front of me. I think I have some gasket sealant as well. I can try it in a bucket and see if anything happens. The water should drag the impeller while cooling the shaft but if my power cables start to heat again, then only salvation is more involved service if I have time. The main thing is to finish the boat. I want it so I can be totally self supportive.
