I think it's an old water delivery pump. Brass type. It may work more slowly and cooled by the water. It will naturally have wear and tear due to age and use. People sometimes give me these unwanted pumps. Anyway cleaning the brushes and a good lubrication has helped. I'll watch the current carefully next time.
I didn't mention this but, for some years, on and off. I've been restoring a 1970 fibreglass boat. Last Summer I finished off the shoreline electrics plus lighting. I used conduit (trunking) and so have sockets to plug in stuff. You use arctic cable in these cases, not house wire. RCD was new. Next stage is water (mainly tank, taps and pump. The shower tray was home-made but there won't be enough height to stand up fully and nothing much can be done about that.
Boat will be inspected as per regs before any launch. That covers vents and safety issues.
There is no DC yet but naturally solar is on the agenda.
Heating was controversial. I figure electric fan heater but considered traditional paraffin cabin heater as on traditional fishing boats. These have a vent but I'm told the fuel may be hard to get and you get condensation. Woodburners are disliked by examiners and they be messy on GRP gelcoat.
Last year I rei will be partly living on this boat hopefully by September. I should add I preserved the original interior so it is still a pretty old boat.
