The VC52 and VC53 are virtually identical and worthy of equal consideration.
Prior to the VC51 were the VC1/2/3 chassis - I'm not sure if there was also a VC4. Why the sudden jump in numbering to the 5x series, I never fathomed out!
I think some of these earlier chassis had LOPT troubles in later life but there is virtually no difference between most of them.
Perhaps others might wish to add their experiences of them ...
The Bush TV125 series might be worthy of interest, also the Baird 660 series.
