It depends on how you read the results.
They are ranked in order of the ratio of peak to off-peak speed but the actual peak speeds for VM oustrip all the other results, with one exception, by a vast amount.
I don't know of any cable areas which are not HFC - although the area immediately surrounding a head end might be coax only, for obvious reasons.
On the other hand, I have no knowledge of any former Telewest franchises so don't know the situation in those.
As I said before, several 8MHz channels can be bonded together to increase capacity and speed but as it is nine years since I had any direct contact with the VM network, I don't know what the possible maximum capacity is today. As I said before, you can't tell a data mux from a TV mux just by looking at it, so there's no easy way to find out.
If I have time before we go back to Lincoln, I'll pop down to the Seven Kings Headend near me and, if there is anybody around I'll see if I can find out.
