Could someone explain why marker pen is considered to damage a valve?
TV tubes are coated inside and out with dag which is carbon based as is marking ink, the solvent is water as opposed to alcohol but as the ink dries there is no solvents left.
There are high temperature labels available for marking and silk screening inks withstand high temperatures, oven door glasses are screen printed.
We had labels made for putting our name on ovens we had serviced, they were clear printed plastic and though they turned brown eventually, they stayed on and legible.
Some glass marking inks contain hydrofluoric acid and lightly etch the glass, very permanent.
