JL & Richer sounds are great companies to deal with, with very strong guarantees and good service.
They have enormous buying power just like Tesco, Argos & Currys. The small retailer cannot compete in this market as they don't get the deals, they have to go to a wholesaler who will no doubt be offering sets very close to the big boys prices. There is very little profit in selling TV's and this all falls down if a fault appears after the manufacturer warranty is out.
Talking about Independents, according to my 1957 Kilmarnock Directory there were 10 TV Retailers/service departments, now there is none, the population has nearly doubled as well.
A sad state of affairs.
