Just tested my alternative dial chord mechanism. At the moment it uses very small weights used as a tension drive just so I can test the system. After many trials I finally managed to get the tuning vanes to drive with the sensitivity I was seeking. The final stage will be a very small mechanism to substitute the weights. Can't yet say whether the effort spent will be worth it. Still so long as it works in the end I will be content. I did notice the HAM schematics seem to opt for direct drive.
