My boiler was supplied fitted with decent brass caps for the DHW ports, intended to be left in place if doing a 2-pipe setup.
Connecting them together is interesting. Wonder what happens if the diverter valve ever starts to be imperfect...
At work, I have one of those stainless steel and plastic cups with a lid for my hot drinks. There is no insulation in there beyond a few millimetres of trapped air (the plastic section can be simply pulled from the SS outer). That keeps hot drinks hot enough to drink for maybe a couple of hours if you keep the lid on.
