The sycamore's sparse remaining leaves are golden and the other trees by my back window are bare, so Autumn is well advanced here. Domestic heating is currently solely down to a fleet of Belling Champions, and I tend to think of my personal Autumn as starting when the first of them returns to service. That usually means the 250 watt No.79 beside my knees, and happens when I come down to a temperature far enough below 50F for me to notice, which was, oh, probably about six weeks ago. A No.2, 82A, 83A, 91A and 92A have all on occasions been awakened from their summer slumber since then.
