The EGM was fine, main business was voting the new Editor on to the Committee and then a chat about how the BVWS was started by Tony Constable. Interesting that Gerry didnt come on the scene until a little later, “... he certainly was not at the first AGM”.
Mike B was on form as usual getting it all moving along. Shame he didnt mention the massive buffet as the Web said only “refreshments”. Think a lot may have got left although some of the older, on there own, members may have taken a few pocket fulls home for later: hope so, shame for it to be wasted.
Highlights for me were the museum itself (but too much to take in with everything else going on, I may try and get there another time) and the talk by the Curator Tim Wander about the history of the hut and the first broadcasts. Charismatic speaker who loves the subject and having written books about it twice needs no notes. Could have listened to him for much longer but it was darn cold in the old treatment works building where the hut now is ... been warmer sitting outside almost. Bought Tim’s book and I will tell more later.
Pretty good turn out with folks even crossing the River.
Enjoyable day Gary
