That would would work but as you say messy.
Switching to a 18F24K22 has worked and got rid of all the spikes even when working with the slower slew rate.
I cant find anything in the data sheets about how well in unison the bits of a port should change state.
I am left wondering if I have just been lucky with the PIC's I was using up until this or is the 18F14K22 out of spec/faulty.
