I beg to differ as far as this machines ability to run a useful version of puppy linux with 1GB of ram and an 8GB SSD. I am replying on a less well speced machine other than the drive. I have run it on a machine with a 6GB HDD. It can also be run on an ntfs file system as a frugal install. This would give you access to any files you need from the windows install. If the machine can be booted from a usb stick then Puppy can reside on and be booted from this. It can also run quite a number of Windows programmes using wine. I run the Duncan Amps Valve Data Base and some other stuff this way. I am not suggesting that this machine would work with the latest version of Ubuntu or Mint even with a less demanding desktop like Mate but it would still be a usable machine for some purpose.
