Hi.
Well I received the NOS Jatco ECU yesterday, £17 plus special delivery. I fitted it and hay presto fault fixed, not only the problem with the corruption but also the gear change issue and the lack of 5th gear.
What I did find though was on removing the old ECU was some corrosion on the pins of the connector, now it's highly likely that these were giving a high resistance to the feeds to the solenoids and this would be the reason for some of the fault codes, also why the re-flash didn't work. I now have no errors most likely because of the non corroded pins and the fact I've cleaned the multiplug.
So my bill for this was £21, much cheaper than £73 for the solenoid and £40 for ATF.
Jatco was a spin off from Nissan and their boxes are fitted to many cars.
In fact the JF506 used in my Rover is the same as in VW's larger cars, see this interesting Wiki article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Ja...nsmissions
The Jaguar X type and the 75 were shown at the 98 motor show, although Rover went bust the 75 has a much higher survival rate than the X type, how many T, V, W, & X reg vehicles actually survive (15-17 year olds) now, some digging might be a surprise. The German vehicles actually don't do that well.
Anyway I still need a smaller and cheaper car to run along with not being low slung like the 75............. but finding something under a grand that is in good nick is like finding a needle in a haystack.
