A Handy Matching Unit

Not an idea I'd have thought of, Bob. I guess the modified unit acts as an impedance matching transformer, although, surely the headphone sockets on valved equipment were designed for low-Z headphones, whereas this 'reversed mains transformer' will surely be of high impedance at the jack plug end? (Or - am I missing something??)
