As I'm not a member of any car forum (I'm not a motorist myslelf), for the moment I'll continue this thread on here. Developments since my last post, are that, because the car's owners wanted a Radio/Cassette player instead of the factory fitted Clarion Radio/CD Player, and had a Sony Radio/Cassette which had been removed from their previous 'W' reg. 406 Saloon, we thought it would be a doddle to fit the Sony in 52 plate 406, using Sony's fitting fram with an adaptor for the dasboard opening, which had been also used in the older car without any problems. However, when we came to fit it in the 52 plate vehcle, the adaptor would not go all the way into the dash, and, after some while it seeemed to us that the reason was that the Sony's metal mounting frame was fouling something inside the radio housing space, but we couldn't see what, or for that matter, why this was the case, since the radio fitting arrangements in the two cars appear to be identical. Does anyone have any idea(s) as to the cause(s) of this problem? Sony mouinting frames are, as mny peopl know, about 4" deep, but if they will fit in one 406 saloon, why not in another??
