This is the TRF that I mentioned elsewhere in this forum. I am very curious about the unusual RF tuning arrangement. When I added the RF stage, I made a mistake in the wiring, and connected it up as shown in the blueprint below. It worked beautifully, but after I noticed the incorrect wiring, I re-wired it as it should have been, but the performance was quite a bit inferior to what it was with the "incorrect" wiring, so I changed it back. The blueprint, incidentally, is my own drawing made simply because I like blueprints! 
So far, no-one has come up with an explanation of why this tuning arrangement works better than a conventional one! Comments please!
