minimal component curve tracer

I  thought a curve tracer needed something to generate the steps/ramp or is this using the AC as that function. I admit to knowing little about this subject, but as it's a simple circuit to knock up, i'll have a play and do some reading up about the subject.

BTW, your circuit Andy is very similar to the Octopus CT.

Yes, it uses the AC for that function, basically the voltage across the device under test is the X timebase, and the current through the device is the Y timebase, remember to invert the "Y" Chanel to get a meaningful trace, I was sceptical about it at first sight but its great for checking diode and transistor junctions. I have another homebrew adapter with more functionality that I built from an article in the Aussie magazine Silicon Chip.
