Fuses can affect other things too. I once had to sort out an amp where someone had added individual fuses to the cathode circuits of all of the eight (!) output valves. They were trying to protect more expensive components from the effects of thermal runaway in individual valves (which was happening depressingly often). They didn't realise that in fact all there was in each cathode circuit was a 10ohm current sensor which fed the bias test socket on the top panel. The new fuse, along with its wiring and the holder contact resistance, added another couple of ohms to this cicuit. So all the valves were now being biased to run too cool. 'A little knowledge is a dangerous thing.'
