Hi Gents, my top slide had a lug cast on the front with a clear hole (8mm?) in it. this fitted over a stud screwed into one of to places on the top surface of the cross slide.
The "lug" was crudely marked with angles.
I chose the best position between top and cross slide and drilled/ counterbored 4BA clear holes through the slideway of the topslide and into the cross slide. This really improved rigidity.
It may originally have also had a Tee nut for the lug as well.
