Hi Sean, the gears and other bits on the ML1 to 4 are all mostly interchangeable and they were all good solid basic lathes and a good way to learn the art od turning.
I have a copy of the original handbook, if you PM me your e-mail I'll send you a scan.
It would be worth subscribing to Model Engineers Workshop, an excellent mag and full of hints, tips and tools to make.
