Mine has a place provided by the manufacturer.
It is not used as the head end can play MP3 CDs giving a day on the road without having to go out in the rain to change the CDs.

I'd be surprised if a standard fitting CD player wasn't in a place provided by the manufacturers, a rather open ended statement  
One thing for sure it sounds like its fitted in a place you have to get out of the car, you'd most likely get wet in the UK owing to the number of wet days we have here. Is your CD mounted outside the car, on the roof possibly?
