Well I got the replacement cartridge today from "Juke box" (thanks for the link Nick)
Works fine but lowish volume maybe 60% of what it should be & a bit bass "light"
There's only the 1 valve doing the work on this player (declared O/P of the cartridge is 0.8v).
Same cartridge fitted in a HMV "tranny" player has loads of power so cart seems OK.
The player seems to have the Fidelty 31 style amp layout.
Need to give this some thought to see what can be done & still keep it original
