The Sweepr is in my workshop, Chris, but I'll take a picture of the 'lower extension pole with built-in battery' as Beldray term it, and post it on here. Basically the 'pole, etc.' is a sealed metal tube about 2ft. long, terminated at the bottom end with a 3-way female connector, and at the top end with a bulb. The actual battery is totally inaccesible inside the tube, but presumably consists of 4 NiMh rechargeable cells in series to produce nominally 4.8v to power the small DC motor fitted in the machine's base.
