It's fair to say that there are other 'Fixers' locally. However, I have little experience of or confidence in them. Bearing in mind its antiquity in PC Terms we reckoned that the worst case if I buggered it was we'd save the HD and its contents.
Anyway, it's worked out OK so far.
As an amusing aside SWMBO remarked that it had come with a spare Battery - the one fitted is getting a bit tired. She said it came in a pink Bag - a likely story. Anyway, this morning, to my amazement, a brief search produced it, in a pink anti-static Bag.
