I've got a trade account with Farnell's as well, Nick, and have been clobbered with a Handling Charge. It only happened once but since then I've only used them when I want quite a lot of stuff.
I agree that there stuff is what it claims to be whereas from e-Bay it most likely isn't. Luckily I only want things for my own amusement so it's good enough. I'd certainly be much more careful if I were working on things for other people; of course they'd be footing the bill anyway.
