I have one of those Grundig DAB radios to the right of the Ekco in your photo. Was given to me years ago. The display did not light up and you could not read it. I fitted a white LED from my scrap box to the side of the display. Powered from the original dot matrix display. Lights up lovely now and all display readable.
The Ekco looks a very basic design, I guess 4 pre-set tuning positions was sufficient when the set was made, Home, Light, Third programmes and maybe Luxembourg on the 4th.
