For my sins I'm a Stoke City Supporter. BBC Radio Stoke transmits local Matches on it's 3 Channels - FM, MW and DAB.

The net Stream is blocked during Matches. There are actually three Teams which count as 'Local' - Stoke, Port Vale and Crewe, and the usual mix puts Stoke on FM.
The FM Transmitter is at Alsagers Bank - Ojers Bonk to the natives - and we're on the ragged edge of the Service Area.

The MW Transmitter is at Sideway, and again we're marginal. Reception here isn't improved by the fact that we're hiding behind a Hill.

I can get the FM Version, just, and I'm working on a better Aerial. The MW Version on 1503 kHz generally needs my RA17 or B40.
Last night they played Spurs and as it was the only Match it was on MW. Just for laughs I tried the P116U. It's currently in the Conservatory which is on the right side of the House apart from the 'Hill problem'.
With a bit of careful twiddling - there's no Slow-motion - and with the Frame Aerial pointed in the right direction it actually picks it up. It's noisy but perfectly readable.
Try that with yer '6 Transistor'

P.S. we were thrashed
