The use of LED's, uprated halogen types and zenon lights is defeatist!
The lighting regulations are still based on filament bulbs. A 90 watt or 150 watt bulb is illegal for road use hence the reason Philips, Osram, Ring and many others tweak filaments, gasses etc to uprate the legal 55 watt bulbs for more light. Osram for instance were well aware that their nightbreaker bulbs had a limited life and with more research improved the life of the bulb with still the increased light output, these are now sold as nightbreaker 2 bulbs.
The big problem is the regulations, these new LED systems are blinding as are Zenons, these consume considerably less than 55 watts for the greater light output.
The regulations should be revised for lumen output not by wattage. Try driving on country roads and getting blinded by a Zenon or LED set up, very dangerous in my view pardon the pun!
