When I was at university (many years ago), my then girlfriend was an economic geologist - in the holidays, she worked for CSM (Camborne School of Mines) (she was from that part of the world) surveying old workings - our summer days were spent investigating & logging the condition of old shafts and adits - there are thousands of them - the earliest go back to 2,000 years BC - many are not officially recorded.

I was always attracted by the nice crystals, but she just liked the dull minerals...
