Yes, nice shaft, probably not an air shaft, they tended to be circular, more than likely a pumping shaft, might have been an engine close by, that's my mate in some of the pictures, there's thousands of shafts down here, most covered over years ago with timber, railway sleepers or railway crossing timbers used to be the favourite, back fill then flog to a developer. I reckon that shaft was known about by someone when that site was developed.
