Is it anything to to do with the plethora of LED and CFL Lamps most of which are Vertically mounted?

I don't know Alan, references I've found on the web mainly refer to the old style vehicle ignition interference and they all seem to say that it was mainly vertically polarized, there might be a simple answer somewhere, only thing I can think of is that it's multi polarized and that the horizontal part is less likely to reach the receiver/antenna for whatever reason.
