It was quite satisfying to see what could be done for relatively little outlay - as I think I said somewhere, those expensive reference ICs are a bit "brute force", whereas I was hoping to try a more "elegant" bit of engineering. Overall, I think it's a set of compromises that have been juggled fairly successfully - like all the best engineering projects.

I've had those sockets for years - they've been crying out for an application like this! There's plenty more where they came from - I'd happily donate a set of 5 to anyone who wants to build this exact project
