I paid £9.49 for mine from Screwifix. Delivery was free as the total order was over the threshold for free delivery.
I too am concerned about safety, reliability and also standby power usage. That report, albeit nearly 2 years old, doesn't inspire confidence. One hopes that buying a branded product (though LAP isn't a top brand) from a recognised supplier gives some confidence
