To follow on from my own post, in 1967 or 68, I built the 'Denette', which was a 2 valve regen. TRF design published in PW. I made 2 versions of it, one using home wound coils for various SW Bands, the other using Denco Green plug-in coils, but wired in place to a rotary wavechange switch. The 'Denette' , I later coverted to an audio amp/signal tracer. In 1971 I built another PW design, called, IIRC, the 'Carlton', which used Weyrad oscillator and I.F. coils and a 4-pin Motorola O/P I.C., and was point-to-point wired on plain perf. board, then fitted into a cylindrical extension speakerobtained from Woolworths. I also built a multi-band transistor radio, again to a PW Design, in the early 70s. This, too, used Denco Plug-in coils, had 1.6Mhz I.F. stages incorporating a Crystal Filter, BFO & Product detector, plus audio amp. OC170, AC 127/128, etc. transistors were used. This was quite a sensitive design and I received SW stations, including amateurs, from many countries, using only an indoor aerial, on it. The radio, partly dismantled, is still in a cupboard, but I suspect all the OC170s would need replacing by now!
