Early wireless...Spot on Alan.
I'm hoping to get back to doing some radio work at some point, had to flog all my kit to fund another property purchase, that's why I've been so tied up as it were of late with one thing and another, stress all the way, businesses don't seem to have much joined up thinking within their business structures these days, either that or I'm getting past it, pile of hassle with the banks etc.....Here's a rub....Banks offer a Faster Payments Service for largish amounts, supposed to be 2 hrs for transfer and no charge, indeed it is, however....So far as I know there is an industry standard maximum limit, well over 100k I think it is, but...different banks set different limits and those limits also vary between online account management, telephone banking or going into the branch in person.
I went to a bank the other day to do a Faster Payment Service transfer (which is free, eg: no charge)....."Sorry Mr, can't transfer that amount using the Faster Payment Service 'ere"....."So what's to do do then?"..."No worries we can do it by CHAPS"..."Is that free"...."No" In other words they purposely set the limit low to increase the number of chargeable CHAPS that they can rake in....
What a rip off, how much does it cost to press a button?...someone no doubt will give me a full explanation where BS baffles brains, but I still think it's a rip off, anyways I'm all calmed down now m'dears.
Lawrence.
