I don't have any sophisticated tools. I use an extremely cheap multi-meter and an equally cheap soldering iron (30 Watts). I don't have a workshop because the boat is pretty small. In fact, it's typical to work kneeling and the radio is on the bed (usually placed on a large wooden board). No isolation transformer is used. I learned to work in complete silence and think very carefully if everything is right before powering up.
If it seems to take a long time, that's just the way I do things. In some ways it helps because I have a bit more time to think it through so seldom make mistakes. Powering up for the first time is usually boring as nothing ever really goes wrong that's dramatic (knock on wood).
Having said that, there's no reason why I should be the only one uploading pics of a project or posting details about a particular radio.
